Alexia — born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. She has a decade of teaching experience, a deep love for Brazilian culture, and the kind of presence that makes you feel like you're learning from a friend, not an instructor. She drives every episode, brings the native perspective, and has a way of making corrections feel like gifts.
Foster — originally from South Carolina, learned Brazilian Portuguese as an adult. He's your cobaia (guinea pig), the one who makes all the mistakes so you don’t have to. Nearly a decade in, Alexia still teaches him something new every week.
We started Carioca Connection in 2017 as a passion project. It grew into a podcast, a membership, and a community of people from all over the world with one thing in common: Brazil got them. And now they want to go deeper.
