Two Real People. One Shared Mission.

Alexia — born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. A decade of teaching experience, an infectious love for Brazilian culture, and the kind of energy that makes you forget you're learning. She drives every episode, brings the native perspective, and won't let you get away with textbook pronunciation.

Foster — originally from South Carolina, learned Brazilian Portuguese as an adult. He's your cobaia (guinea pig) — always making mistakes so you don't have to. He knows the fear, the plateaus, and the breakthroughs, because he's lived all of them. After nearly a decade of immersion, he still learns something new from Alexia every week.

We started Carioca Connection in 2017 as a passion project. It became a podcast, then a membership, then a community of people from all over the world who share one thing: they fell in love with Brazil and want to go deeper.
