Originally from South Carolina, Foster started learning Portuguese as an adult and has spent nearly a decade figuring out what actually works — by doing it with Alexia. He's the "cobaia" (guinea pig) of every episode: if he can learn this, so can you.
We started this because Foster was learning Portuguese and there was nothing out there that sounded like the Brazil Alexia actually grew up in. Textbooks taught the version of Portuguese that nobody speaks. Apps gamified something that deserves more respect. So we built what we wished existed — a podcast where the teaching happens inside real conversation, not a classroom.
