Michaella, June 2026
OlΓ‘, Michaella! π
Thank you for the conversation last week and for being so open about where you are with Portuguese and what you actually need. It was a real pleasure getting to know you, and we have been thinking about your situation carefully since then.
Below you'll find two coaching plans we put together specifically for you, along with a third option for learners who prefer a more self-directed path. Take your time reading through everything, and let us know if you have any questions.
Aquele abraço,
Alexia
(+ Foster & Buddy πΆ)
What we noticed
You are not starting from scratch, not even close. Your husband speaks Portuguese to your kids every day, you spent a month in Brazil holding your own with Uber drivers and family, and you have two little ones who are already fluent. Your daughter even corrects your pronunciation, which we love. You have built a real Portuguese life around yourself.
So the gap is not exposure. You have more of that than most learners ever get. In your words, you take two steps forward and one step back, and you already know why. You have tried lessons before, on italki and elsewhere, but there was no homework, no clear assignments, nothing to make the knowledge stick or build on top of what you already had. So it kept slipping.
That is not a you problem. That is a structure problem. You told us exactly what you need: someone to hold your hand and walk you through it, someone to ask "did you do your homework?" That is not a small ask. It is the entire reason coaching works, and it is exactly what we do.
The timing is right too. The hardest years are behind you now. You said it yourself: you can finally just commit. We can build the structure around that commitment.
What we would focus on with you
Writing as the foundation. You said it directly: writing is the only way to get the stuff to stick in your head. We agree completely. Writing would be built into every single week, targeting the exact tenses and structures you tend to mix up, until they stop being something you have to think about.
Verb tenses and grammar, properly. Not endless drills. The specific grammar that trips you up right now, worked on deliberately until it becomes automatic.
Vocabulary that goes the distance. You can carry a conversation for about ten minutes before your vocabulary runs dry. We would build the depth that lets you keep going: the words for your husband's family, for the dinner table, for the real conversations you are already in.
Dinner table Portuguese. This is the goal that ties everything together, and it is a beautiful one. All four of you speaking Portuguese at dinner, your kids confident, you right there with them instead of on the outside. Your kids are ready. Your husband is ready. You are the last piece, and the right program puts you in that chair.
Accountability, built into everything. Think of this less like a language class and more like having a personal trainer for your Portuguese. You would not show up to a trainer without doing the work between sessions, and that is the whole point. Homework, writing assignments, clear weekly goals, and two people checking in to make sure you actually do them. That structure is what has been missing. It is what we are best at.
CC Coaching: what is included
Every coaching plan includes the following:
Private 1:1 sessions with Alexia or Foster
One session per week is the recommended rhythm. We build in flexibility for life, travel, or weeks when either of us needs to reschedule. The program moves at a pace that works for both of us.
A private WhatsApp group with both of us
This is where the accountability lives between sessions. Direct access to Alexia and Foster throughout your entire program. We send your homework here. You send your writing and voice messages back. You ask questions the moment something does not click, and we check in to keep you on track. For someone who does their best work with real accountability, this is not a bonus feature. It is the structure that makes the whole thing work.
Personalized homework and writing assignments
Structured, clear, and tied to your real goals. Never busywork. Writing that targets the specific tenses and grammar you are working on, plus speaking practice that builds toward the dinner table conversations you want to be having.
A personalized curriculum built around your goals
Not a course we hand you. A program designed for your level, your gaps, and the life you are actually living: your family in SΓ£o Paulo, your kids at the dinner table, the conversations you want to stop feeling limited in.
Full CC Club access for the duration of your program
400+ podcast episodes, full transcripts, worksheets, the Fundamentals course, Adventures with Alexia, and our weekly live group classes. This is a $360/year membership, included at no extra cost while you are coaching with us. CC Club access is included for the duration of your coaching program only.
Your two coaching options
Option A | Option B | |
Private 1:1 sessions with Alexia or Foster | 6 sessions | 12 sessions |
Private WhatsApp group with both of us | β | β |
Personalized homework & writing assignments | β | β |
Personalized audio feedback | β | β |
Personalized curriculum built around your goals | β | β |
Full CC Club access during your program | β | β |
Investment | $750 | $1,200 (save $300 vs. full rate) |
Our recommendation for you is Option B.
Your goals are not narrow. You want writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and most of all a consistent habit that finally holds. Six sessions will get you started and build real momentum. Twelve sessions gives us enough time to actually establish that consistency, so that when the program ends you are not back at square one but carrying a real practice forward on your own.
That said, Option A is a real program, not a lesser one. If the investment is the deciding factor right now, six sessions is enough to build a solid foundation, understand exactly what to practice, and know what to do next.
Payment for either option can be split into two installments.

A note about CC Club
CC Club is our full self-study membership and it is the right fit for learners who are genuinely self-motivated and comfortable building their own structure. At $360 per year, you get access to everything we have built over ten years of teaching Brazilian Portuguese: the full episode library, transcripts, worksheets, the Fundamentals course, and our weekly live group classes with Alexia.
The honest difference between CC Club and coaching is this: coaching is built entirely around you. Alexia and Foster both know your voice, your specific gaps, and what you are working toward. CC Club gives you the resources. Coaching gives you the structure, the accountability, and two people making sure you actually use them.
For someone who has tried self-directed learning before and found that consistency was the missing piece, CC Club on its own is probably not the answer just yet. But it is a great place to start if the timing is not right for coaching, and you can always come back later.
One more thing worth knowing: most of our coaching students choose to continue as CC Club members after their program ends. The coaching builds the foundation and the habits. The CC Club is where they keep going. CC Club access is included for the duration of your coaching program only.
Once coaching ends, continuing as a member is $360/year, and in our experience, most students are glad they did.
What we would ask of you
- Study for roughly 30 minutes daily, in addition to your weekly sessions π
- Keep dinner time in Portuguese with the family π₯
- Show up to every class (with exceptions, of course) π©βπ»
- Complete your personalized homework and writing assignments β
Consistency is what makes coaching work, and you already know you have it in you when the conditions are right. Our job is to design the right program and stay with you throughout it. Your job is to show up and have fun speaking Brazilian Portuguese with your family! π§π·
