Juliet, June 2026
OlΓ‘, Juliet! π
Great talking with you yesterday!
Here's the short version: you're a great fit for coaching, and you've basically already got what you need. Two languages under your belt, years teaching English, and no fear about making mistakes. Most people spend their first few classes just getting over it. You have a really strong foundation and a lot working in your favor.
It's just putting in the hours with the right kind of practice, aimed at the one thing standing between you and understanding fast, natural Brazilian Portuguese by September.
Below are two plans we built for you, plus a self-study option. Have a read and tell us what you think.
Aquele abraço,
Foster
(+ Alexia & Buddy πΆ)
What we noticed
You're further along than "intermediate" makes it sound. You handled the conference, the education systems, the business talk. You already speak really well.
Your gap is the opposite of most people's. They understand more than they can say. You can build a sentence and get by, but when a waiter or a yoga teacher fires something off quick, it's gone. The everyday, slangy stuff is tricky, because you can't reverse-engineer colloquialisms out of French and German.
You named the reason yourself: you're building sentences block by block instead of chunking. When you have time, you can get there, but fast Brazilian conversations don't give you the time. It has to come naturally.
That's part of the intermediate plateau! It's totally normal, and it's very crossable. You've crossed it twice already, in German and French. You just need to push in the right places, with the right people in your corner.
What we'd focus on with you
Your ear, first. This is the gap, so it gets the most attention. Youβll have conversations with Alexia at her natural Brazilian speed to build your comprehension capacity.
The plateau. Foster was exactly where you are, in this same language. He knows the jump from building sentences block by block to chunking them without thinking. That switch you want to flip. That's his half: strategy, the head game, the specific walls that show up at your level.
Everyday Portuguese, not just the boardroom. You can talk education policy already. We'll build the rest: the fast, casual, slangy Portuguese of the yoga class, the street, the off-script moment with a student.
The grammar that actually slows you down. No endless drills. The real culprits, like the simple past, worked until they stop tripping you. Plus a light touch on pronunciation where it counts, like those nasal vowels.
The people you're doing this for. This is the whole point. The ministry reps, where Portuguese buys you trust and opens doors. And the kids, far from home for the first time, where speaking their language is will mean the world. You said there's no point half-doing it. This gets you to really doing it by the time they land in September.
What's included
Every plan comes with:
Private 1:1 sessions with Alexia or Foster
Two a week is the rhythm we'd suggest. One with Alexia for your ear, one with Foster for the plateau, shifted week to week toward whatever you need. Flexible around life and travel.
A private WhatsApp group with both of us
Where the real work happens between classes. Alexia sends audios to stretch your listening. You send answers back, we fix them, you ask questions if something doesn't land.
Homework and reading, built for you
Never busywork. Real texts and stories to read, then talk about in class, plus listening and speaking aimed straight at your comprehension speed. We can be as ambitious as you want here.
A curriculum built around you
We will tailor everything to your level, your specific obstacles, your actual life: the exchange program, the ministries, the students, the conversations you want by September.
Full CC Club access while you're with us
400+ episodes, transcripts, worksheets, the Fundamentals course, advanced series like Adventures with Alexia, and our weekly live classes. A $360/year membership, included for the length of your program only.
Your two options
Option A | Option B | |
Private 1:1 sessions with Alexia or Foster | 8 sessions | 16 sessions |
Private WhatsApp group with both of us | β | β |
Personalized homework & reading assignments | β | β |
Personalized audio feedback | β | β |
Personalized curriculum built around your goals | β | β |
Full CC Club access during your program | β | β |
Investment | $1,000 (USD) | $1,600 (save $400 vs. full rate) |
We recommend Option B.
The honest reason: the thing you most want to fix, understanding fast speech, is the one thing a single sprint probably won't fix. Youβll need repetition over a several weeks, until your ear stops needing to translate. Sixteen sessions, two a week from the first week of July, runs through July and August and drops you right where you want to be when the September students arrive. Eight sessions builds real momentum, but it ends just as your ear is finding its feet.
That said, Option A is a real program, and still a solid option for you. We're flexible on timing for both options.

About the CC Club
CC Club is our full self-study membership, and it's the right call for people happy running their own structure. $360 a year gets you everything we've built over ten years: the full episode library, transcripts, worksheets, our Fundamentals course, advanced series like Adventures with Alexia, and weekly live classes.
The CC Club gives you the resources. Coaching gives you Alexia pushing your ear up to speed, Foster getting you over the exact plateau you're on, and two people building the whole thing around your September deadline. You'd do fine in the Club on your own. But group classes won't train your ear for fast speech as fast as one-on-one will, and that's the reason you're here.
Worth knowing: most of our coaching students stay on as Club members after. Coaching builds the base. The Club keeps it going. Club access is included for your program only. After that it's $360/year, and most people are glad they kept it.
What we'd ask of you
- About an hour a day on your own, on top of the classes
- Do the reading and come ready to talk about it
- Answer audios in WhatsApp, and send your own
- Attend every class (with exceptions, of course)
Consistency is the whole game, and you've already proven you have it. Our job is to build the right program and stay with you. Yours is to show up, study hard, and have some fun with it before the kids land in September! π§π·
