Who we are

Ten Years Ago, We Started Talking. We Never Stopped.

We're a couple (in a variety of senses) of language lovers. Alexia is a Carioca who brings Brazil into every conversation. Foster, from South Carolina, is your cobaia (guinea pig) on the show, making mistakes so you don't have to. Since 2016, we've built everything around real conversation.

From People Who Stuck With It

★★★★★

"Thanks to the weekly calls in the CC Club, I was able to quickly improve my Portuguese and I feel ready to meet my Brazilian in-laws! The topics in the calls are always interesting, and I always felt safe to just talk, fail and learn."

PieterjanCC Club member

★★★★★

"It's exactly what I've been looking for to learn real Portuguese, including all sorts of slang expressions and the little conversational fillers and cues that are part of normal conversations... I speak three other languages and can say that for me this is one of the best language instructional programs around."

ListenerPodcast review

"I've truly enjoyed my Carioca Connection Coaching sessions with Alexia! In just a short time, we've made noticeable progress with my conversational skills and pronunciation, which are areas that I've found challenging for years. Alexia has also tailored our classes to include vocabulary specific to my life, hobbies, and profession."

Questions, Answered

Which option is right for me?+

If you like to study on your own, start with Self-Study. If you want to practice speaking with real people, join the CC Club. If you have a specific goal and want a program built around you, apply for CC Coaching. You can switch anytime.

What level do I need?+

Any level from beginner up. Beginners start with the Fundamentos course for a clear path. Intermediate and advanced learners get the most from the episode worksheets, Adventures with Alexia and, in the Club, the live classes.

How does coaching work, and what does it cost?+

Packages begin at $600, depending on the number of sessions and the scope of your program. We start with a Portuguese assessment and a coaching call, then build a curriculum around your goals. Coaching is by application only, so start here.

Isn't the podcast free?+

Yes, and it stays free. Membership adds what the free show can't: a worksheet for every episode, the Fundamentos course, Adventures with Alexia and, in the Club, live classes with us. It also keeps the free show going.

Is the podcast all in Portuguese?+

Yes. Every episode is a natural conversation between us in Brazilian Portuguese. The worksheets give you the full transcript with vocabulary, expressions, grammar and cultural notes, so you can follow along. See a free sample worksheet.

Is it Brazilian Portuguese, not European?+

Completely Brazilian. Alexia is from Rio, and everything we teach is the Portuguese Brazilians actually speak: accent, slang, rhythm and all.

What happens after I join?+

You get instant access as soon as your payment goes through. Your login is the email you signed up with, and you can get back in anytime with Member Login at the top of the site.

Can I cancel anytime? Is there a guarantee?+

Yes to both. Cancel whenever you like: you keep access until the end of the period you paid for, and you won't be charged again. If it's not for you, there's a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first payment. If you're not happy, neither are we. The guarantee doesn't apply to renewals, and we'll always email you before your plan renews.

How do I reach you if I have a question?+

Email us anytime at help@cariocaconnection.com. A real person reads every message.
